Item Model Groups Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
With Item model groups in Dynamics AX, a user is given the
ability to attach several products to an item model group. This eliminates the
need of providing detailed information for the different items that have been
created in the product Information module.
This way updates could easily be applied to products as
several items could easily be updated using the same setup configured in one
place.
You can setup item model groups in the stock and
warehouse management module. This is configured using the Item
model groups form. This way, you are able to specify how items
relate to registration and picking procedures.
To configure this follow the steps below:
Go to: Inventory and warehouse management > Setup > Inventory
> Item model groups
With Item model groups, an AX Administrator is able to
configure settings which determine how items are controlled and handled upon
item receipts and issues. These settings also determine how item consumption is
calculated.
To create a new item model group, select New
To configure quarantine management select Quarantine
management and any product linked to this item model group will be placed under
quarantine management rules and requirements.
Select Consolidated picking method for picking multiple
orders and use picking areas and shipment functionality.
Make sure you uncheck the stocked product check box if the
product will not be stocked. This is useful for service products which are
consumed without the need of posting any inventory.
